    Maximum in gear boost

As the title suggests, anyone know what the peak in gear boost figures are for a 1997 S70/V70 T5?

Fitted boost gauge during the week and it seems to hit the recommended peak stock boost (just over 10psi) in 4th/5th, but what should it make in the lower gears?

    Cheers

Well i've an 850 t5 that holds 1.0-1.2 in 4th and 5th with a little peak at times.
2nd and 3rd is just below this.

Sometimes cars run lower boost in 1st, i know that 200sx's (when standard) run lower in 1st gear.

I thought that like the S/V40 T4's, that peak boost was less in the lower gears, so as not to give too much too soon, and enter rod bending territory?

Mine definitely does not make 10psi in 1st, slightly more in 2nd and more again in 3rd gears, but less than 10psi, so should this not be the case?

    Update

As above, R Spec MBC ordered last night, so wait and see what that does to things.

As I commented though, I'm curious that others seem to have the same boost in all gears, whilst mine is definitely limited in the lower gears, like the T4 was. Anyone got a definitive answer on that?

    Cheers

That is pretty much what I am seeing, but it just seems so slow compared to the T4....! At what revs should peak boost be hit in each gear?

mine came on song around 2.5k and went a little flat around 5-5.5k, you have to remember that the 16t wont spool as quick which is why i put a 72mm rip kit on, that made a vast difference.

Now that is different to mine. I wouldn't say that it does much below about 3000rpm. If you are in town in 4th gear at 30mph and hit an incline, it really needs a switch down to 3rd gear, or you can feel it struggling. The T4 was no problem on the same hill, in the same gear, at the same speed, and I thought the T5 would be more torquey....

    Could just be me though!

should be a bit more torquey than that?

Mine pulls cleanly from 30 in fifth (1200rpm) with the turbo getting decent pressure from about 1600rpm and full song at 2200+

different turbo, but sounds like you should have a bit more go even off the boost under 3000?

I don't get much below 3k either in my s70r, but it is an auto so has longer gearing.
I know what you mean about the t4s, they do feel quicker and more raw. But they do weigh a fair bit less and have a smaller turbo, so the power comes in quicker.
Although i must point out that my t4 may have been more modded, than i thought at the time, by a previous owner.

    Wow!!!!

MBC arrived today and fitted in all of 15 mins. Quick run up the road, a minor adjustment on the dial, and all is well. 13psi of beautiful constant boost, in all gears. No spikes as yet, or at least none that the gauge is registering, and torque steer like I expected initially.

Suddenly, I want to keep my T5.....!!!!!

    Cheers

It is the R Spec MBC. 10 minute job though I'm going to make a bracket up to fix it to the top engine mount.
