Hi,
Just been on an expedition to Brecon and enjoyed driving through mid wales in the old girl.
I noticed (when I was passing someone) on full throttle and high rpm I could hear a rattling noise from the engine. It appeared not pull as it should at higher rpm. Engine was fine at lower rpm and higher torque.
There is an MBC in chain with the boost solenoid, so boost sits at about 16PSI on standard ECU map.
I have read that rattling is a sign of detonation perhaps caused by a lean mixture. As no fuel cut occurred the ECU was happy with the airflow, which leads me to suspect that I'm not getting enough fuel in the cylinders.
Could this be caused by a failing fuel pump? Would something like a Walbro help? How can I diagnose this?
Cheers for any advice.
