    injectors RE:colours

sorry if there is a thread covering this, couldn't find one. (and i know nothing regards injectors so feel real dumb here)

when it comes to injectors i get confused regards the colours.

i have a pre me7 v70 that has white injectors in race car

and c70 me7 that has blue injectors

are the injectors just different colours because of managment system? or do they have different outputs that affect performance?

what other cars can injectors be sourced from for performance upgrade?

and finally can injectors from early pre me7 t5 engines be swapped with later me7 ones?
because it just had to be done

As far as i'm aware the colours are related to how much fuel they can flow. So when you start to increase the power of the car you may need to upgrade the injectors as well.

The injectors flow different fuel rates orange being the lowest, then white, blue and green.
I'm sure someone will let you know the flow rates.

AFAIK they will not improve performance unless you have other mods to go with them ie fitting a set of blues on an 850 with a 15g isn't going to give you loads more grunt; just an overfuelling problem.

I would assume that as they're Bosch injectors they are fitted to other cars.

Also AFAIK injectors are interchangeable although I don't know whether the ME7 have this capability- again someone will let you know I'm sure.

The VXR blues would be nice if there was a handy fuel tanker following

Remember fuel pressure. The flow figures quoted for the White, Blue and Greens are correct at 3.8 bar and the VXR injector figure is correct at 3.0 Bar (They flow 528cc/min at 3.8 bar).

Blues are 350cc and Greens 405cc at 3 bar.

ME7 pre-facelift T5 rail pressure is a constant 3.8 bar and does not rise with manifold pressure ie: you lose some fuel pressure on boost and need disproportionately large injectors compared to those with rising rate fuel pressure. I think the earlier cars have 3.0 bar at the rail but cannot confirm whether it is rising rate or not. Face lifted ME7 T5's have the ability to increase fuel pressure with boost.
