    smelly air vents !!!!!!

    Hi all
    Has the 850 got a filter in the heating system that needs to be changed periodically cant find any mention of it in the manual ..... its worse when warm air is coming out smells like a wet dog !!!!!

    not sure they have one,
    but what puzzles me more is that youve had your nose so close to a wet dog.............im not even gona ask

    I was doing a little reading on google and it appears some 850's had a form of cabin filter and others adapted a "carbon" filter to do the job of a cabin filter.

    I think you need to isolate the source of the smell as the vents just wouldnt be the only factor.

    my dog smells at a hundred yards when wet bloody thing .... wouldnt let him anywhere near my car ............... any ideas where this filter may be ???

    i dont think they have a cabin/pollon filter.

    iv had a look on the auto data thing and it dont show any cabin/pollon filters.
    some cars have them inside the car,some under the bonnet.
    but i cant say iv evewr seen one in an 850

    I was certain they had a cabin filter, give me 5 mins to check
    855 manual, Rica 304, Reverse I/C, De-cat, Pipercross cone, Durite boost and volt gauges, Braided hoses, Police spec pads

    I retro fitted a pollen filter to my old 850 and it cured the occasional nasty whiff from the vents. I bought the kit from a main dealers, iirc £20-£25, you install it under the plastic scuttle panel on the nearside. I'm sure it only took 10 minutes to fit.

    The nasty whiff could also be a build up of bacteria in the heating/AC system, those 'anti-bacteria' canisters work a treat too.

    Agree with above that it would be more like bacteria living in your vents
    try a sanitizer.

    Thanks all ... glad to be of service by default lol ... opened mine up and nothing there !!!!! previous owner must have removed and chucked it ... anyway going to get some spray and a replacement filter
