    Vac hose question.

    Just a quickie Can someone confirm that the vac lines with the lil blue and yellow strip around are to be replaced with 5mm fuel hose?

    yeh i replaced all of my hoses with fuel line, think there was various different size tho so not sure if its 5mm or not (think the others used were only 4mm & 6mm so might get away with the one size)

    You might wanna replace the one from the turbo to bcs (red) also.

    Thank mate. I need to know the size cos my local motor shop only has 4mm and 6mm in stock. The hose in the pic is so naffed I dare not take it off to find out and risk leaving myself stranded lol

    TCV (BCS) hoses are 1/4 inch / 6mm. Go with re-inforced silicone (Samco) or some decent internally braided SAE fuel hose.

    I've just replaced all that I could with 6mm hose. Boost is back a bit but its still a little flat. From looking at the hose I replaced I could have gone up to 8mm. The only pipe I didn't do was the one that ran from under the blue + yellow pipe. It runs below the engine out of sight/reach. Any ideas where it runs to?

    if it disappears behind the heatshield it will be the actuator on the turbo, a very important one to have in good condition

    Could well be the 'red' one - that's the main pressure hose from the compressor side of the turbo which effectively 'powers' the TCV/BCS.

    thats quite easy to get to just by the inlet pipe on the turbo, the actuator one disappears underneath the heatshield out of sight

    As my pic above shows there is the blue and yellow pipe and a 3rd below it. Is that the red one that leads to the turbo?

    I'm afraid I can only comment from a Phase 2 V70 perspective and that is:-

    Yellow hose from TCV to actuator, easy to access and easy to replace;
    Blue hose from TCV to intake pipe, again easy to access and replace;
    Red hose from TCV to turbo compressor side, tricky to access, tricky to replace.

    The hose colour codes should be the same for you but access on your car may be different so I'd better shut up ;-)
