I presume you've checked the fuel guage first to see if they've actualy managed to get some out?. Other than removing the tank to drain it I doubt there's a way of telling if anything's been put in it.

I did have a look and think there might be some gone but didnt have alot in the tank anyway so cant 100% tell.
I had a closer look and theres 2 oily/petrol marks just below the filler flap hole and both have fingure prints in them so says to me they tryed to get some out.
Just waiting on the police to come and dust them and take the prints.

There are some sad tight fisted gits about, it's unfortunate but at least a petrol flap is fairly cheap.

I suppose you could take the pump out of the tank which would allow you to see into the fuel tank to some degree. Would you not see some evidence around the filler neck or inside the filler tube if sugar had been added ?

It's a myth if you put sugar in a petrol tank it will kill an engine it wont unless

The petrol/sugar mix is mixed thoroughly otherwise the sugar will simply sink to the bottom of the tank where the filter will catch the undisolved sugar. Over time some sugar will disolve into the fuel by that time you should have replaced sufficient fuel to dilute the mix to a safe amount.

If you want to see if sugar has been put in the tank undo the jubilee clip between the tank and filler check to see if there is unmixed sugar.

Dont think its sugar or sand, its not diesel as i got some fresh fuel and added diesel to see what happend.
The sample ive got out of the tank is slighly yellow and cloudy, now the new stuff i got was like water but with a slight yellow to it.
So think there was somthing added, maybe washing liquid as i added this to clean fuel and it went as cloudy as my fuel in the tank.

every car i have broke the fuel in the tank has been clear other than emptying the tank you can risk it by filling it fully up with fuel to dilute any thing that might have been put in the only other thing is to replace the tank.

How hard is it to remove the fuel tank?

mine bust and is easy to access now (just opens).....jeez, people do this?

Gonna go to ebay right now and buy a locking one......standard size?

Although maybe not worth the risk, what would happen if sugar (or whatever) had been put in there? Engine rebuild?

Got a locker on mine now lol.
Going off info from the net sugar and sand will just drop to the bottom of the tank so should be too bad think the filter will stop any going to the engine aswell.

I just need to get mine drained now, also want to get the fuel looked at so i have a defo thats its been contaminated so then i know its to do with my neighbour, then let the fun start.

    hmm....your neighbour potentially did this?

I accused the council 3 days ago of scratching my car...turns out it was my olive tree as i was backing onto the drive.....

I am an auditor and am slowly coming to believe that evidence is absolute....say you have a row with the wife - next day, your shirt is crumpled on the floor - you blame her...turn out it fell off overnight....thing is, people always assume that the event before is an excuse for the event just happened......just remember my council case lol......

On the other hand, it may have been your neighbour being an arse, but I doubt it....

I know what your saying but there ongoing stuff between them and me,just seems strange how mine was he only car to get targeted and also if somthing was put in then seems even stranger.

She called the police on me last week about my kids, she blamed them for putting stickers on her car and wiping berrys down it,now with know evidence the police still came round to speak to me, ok i told them that i knew what child had done this (not mine).
To me just seems abit of a coincidence, and wouldnt have been her that done it would have been her daughters boyfriend who just lives up the road.

Bottem line is i will get the fuel tested and if its got something in it then she/him will be warned because in my eyes having stickers and berrys wiped over your car is a easy fix to sort out but trying to kill someones car off is not.

    Re: Sugar
In the old days sugar would stop a car ebcuase they did not have fuel injectiuon and hot**** filters. The sugar would get through the old gauze filter and block the jets in the carb, or more likely wedge in the valves in the mechanical fuel pump stopping it from pumping.
In tank pumps tend to have a fine quaze mesh over thier inlet, but I guess would not work too well if sugar got through that, although with teh flow volumes it could just go through and eventiually block the in line filter. (??) All in theory as I would not like to test it.
But basically it wont get to the engine.

Sounds like a nuisance trick. Feel sorry for them - they are an idiot. Pity and despise them. Its better for your psyche than anger and grudge!

    Good luck. WAF
