    D5 economy, whats yours doing?

I filled up last night, to the brim, and reset all my counters. I drove 17miles down the motorway at 70mph with the cruise on, 2 miles of minor roads, and 17 miles back at 70 with cruise on, my average was 50.5 mpg.

Im SURE i used to get about 54 when i first bought the car, but im wondering if i was going a little slower, AND i had the dreaded Pirrelli P6000's on

So, without creating a MASSIVE thread, what is yours doing currently???
    Thankyou, Goodnight....much love

Ala VOC thread http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showpo...29&postcount=8 depends on how heavy my right boot feels.

My most economic speed - zero mph.

Leave the car on the drive 5 days a week and ride to work .

That means when I do need to use the car I can use it and not worry too much about how much fuel is used .

On a more serious note though, at 80-85 mph I'm looking at about 40mpg, at 60 more like 50-55mpg and at 50mph more like high 50's and above. That's with a 54 plate (pre facelift) V70 D5 with MTE remap.
Oh, it's a manual, no slushboxes for me thankyou.

Don't let age define you. It's a number that's all.

Bonny's currently on 43mpg, thats mixed city & motorway. But she is poorly & think she's kicking more diesel out the exhaust in the form of black smoke than what she's using in the engine lol

Spent half an hour traversing the A46 between Nottingham and Newark yesterday, doing a steady 40 in the roadworks. I was suprised to see my average of 47mpg - in a T5!

    I know it's not a Dirty5, but thought I'd mention it...

I got 28 average over 900 miles to France with a T5 (the one the Police use because they don't want to choke on soot) with the pair of horror boys and associated cack in the back. No puffs of black smoke or chugging noises either...

    Dang me.

Did that same route but in reverse a couple of weekends ago visiting my Mum in City Hospital
And my Dirty5 was doing 60-70mpg

A somewhat boring drive but it did give me a chance to look at Farndon (used to live there) and Syerston (used to go gliding there).

Heck of a new bypass/dual carriage way they're building???

It is a heck of a new bypass Robbie, and going up at a rapid rate!

Syerston and Farndon eh ? I've been gliding from there a few times, and I launch the boat from Farndon Marina with the brother-in-law many a time...

Small world. I reckon we're brothers. What with you growing up (a bit) near Bawtry and being on the same tube-train as me a week earlier than 7/7... Funny we both drive Volvo V70's too, albeit yours is of the dirty variety.

Oh did I mention I used to live near Newark too ? Sutton-on-Trent to be precise...

Average is 54.7, almost every tank, however, I never fill her up. I half fill the tank and reset the system every second fill up.

In the real world, I average 360 miles on half a tank, not sure how that pans out and can't be bothered trying to work it out!

I'm surprised by the word dreaded in front of Pirellis P6000, I've had four fitted recently and so far, apart from road noise, I have no complaints, especially as they were cheap too. They are the latest ones with the rim protection.

My driving is a mix 60% motorway, the rest is normal urban.

Even though the computer may be abit optimistic, 50mpg+ is just ridiculous!!!!

    I should have added a ' ;-) ' .

50mpg from a semi-performance luxo-barge is exactly why I am (still) on the hunt for an s60 d5....
