    ME7 Pro's and Con's

After having had 6 850 and v70 with distributor/rotor I have been offered a 1999 v70 t5 with ME7 engine management. The car is JUST what i want, but I am unsure about this "new" engine management.

    therefore what are the pro/con??

Is it as reliable as ALL my others have been ?

I have to answer the dealer tomorrow (saturday) so it is a bit urgent...

    Kindest
    Chris.

there are known problems with the ETM (electric throttle module) but believe aslong as a newer unit & software update has been done think its been resolved. Alot of people say the ME7 throttle is too smooth & lacks the aggression a T-5 should have (850 will always be the original lol). Plus if your intending to modify the car, the ME7 system is alot more inteligent & will throw a fault code if you don't have the ECU remapped to compliment on most things

the inteligence of the system does save the engine most of the time (assuming the remap hasn't bypassed safety parameters) if problems arise

The Me7 heads seem to be much more better flowing aswell, so much more potential for tuning is there from a standard setup over the older pre Me7 units.

ME7 does not quite sound as raw as the old mechanical systems. I have been trying to get the best out of mine for many years & in the right hands it can really deliver. ETM is a minor irritation. VVT is a good thing to have.

I am making 300bhp with 75% of the full potential of the 19T. It is has been difficult to get hold of people who really know how to get the best out of it. ATM have been a revelation.

    Thanks everyone for you replies.

I bought the car, simply because I couldn't resist the colour, which is very rare here in denmark. The car is mint and drives like a new vehicle.

Its nice! I prefer the pre-ME7 though. Don't like all the electronic jiggery pokery.

No-one's mentioned fuel. ME7s are significantly better on fuel than the older Bosch systems. My experience says about 10% difference in the real world.
