Fingers crossed work might be less busy so I might just make this one. Really want to do a 1/4 mile and a track day with the Volvo. Have never done a 1/4 mile and have never used my own car on a track day, So a virgin to all of this.
Save yourself the eternal frustration! DON'T DO IT. LOL
If anyone wants some 17 inch slicks to run then let me know. I have a spare pair of Michelins.

Yes you would. They are not brilliant but will save wear & tear on your road tyres & you can do massive smoky burnouts without concern!

I'll see what Nads has lying around in his cave.
One day Smithy will upload the vid of your classic burn out.

That was me last sunday mate. IF I were to offer some tips.
1. You don't need a full tank of fuel, actually you probably don't even need a quarter. Less fuel means less weight. (And on a FWD less weight at the back is good).
2. Go on green, the green light appears very quickly once both cars are "staged".
3. Remember to launch it
4. Do not break before the end of the run
5. If you cars defaults to grandad mode when you turn it off and on like mine does. Remember to reset the settings to suit.
6. If your using a camcorder, make sure the batteries charged
Thats about all my wisdom for now. It's absolutely great fun and these guys are great :-)

and its best to be the first one staged, cos sometimes they go green as sson as u r staged while your left foot is on the brake still while him next door is holding nice revs for launching

Some good advice there. Once both cars are staged (Which is as soon as you are both at the start line), the lights do changes very quick, so is definatly worth being the 1st staged.
Most of my runs i was creeping up to the line, and when i got there the lights would change while i weren't quite ready, (was getting a 2.6 60ft time on these), then jamest5r told me to get to the line quickly and get ready to go while the other person is messing around and on that run i took 3 tenths of my 60ft time!
And you must keep your foot down untill you are past the line! Its funny how many people (me included) take their foot off before the end, some even brake, when they are doing their 1st run.
i didn't notice at Avon, put at Santa Pod there is a small yellow light in the middle between the staging lines (bit higher up). That shows the race controller is happy & once both cars are staged the sequence will begin. If that small light not on both cars can be staged but countdown won't begin until the controller presses his button
that controller at santa pod will press go as soon as you have your second light with no time to get off brakes and on to the throttle, he probably thinks its funny to see such shoddy starts lol
the starting sequence is automatic. The lights will only go once both cars are staged & the race controller has confirmed he's happy by pressing his button. Quite often the controller presses his button once the previous cars are clear of the track, so yes the lights will count down as soon as the last car is staged
i never use my brakes upto the line, or for holding it on the line. I normally spin the wheels thru the burnout square then edge upto the line. Then hold it on the biting point ready for the lights.
I've got a nice little toy on BT now which will hold the revs at exactly the rpm i want while at the line so i can hold the accelerator fully floored, & feed the power in with the clutch once the lights change. Once the clutch is fully out the limiter is deactivated so got full power. It also allows me to change gear without backing off the accelerator
