    Trip computer fault

One more thing on new (02) D5. Trip computer is all over the place - reading backwards, blank, flashing nonesense etc. The guy I bought it off said it just happened when he washed it before I piked it up and it had happened a few years ago after washing the car and then cured itself. Any experience of this anyone? Could some damp get in somewhere and screw it up?
    Cheers, Mark

No ideas anyone? Sometimes goes blank, occasionally perfect for a while, sometinmes backwards / flashing, bits missing etc. Different every time I start the car up!

Just back from Hols in France. The Trip computer worked on and off, so it looks like I DO have the same problems as in the thread you gave me , thanks. Will get my electrician friend to look at it. Did 1050 miles with roof box and the trip computer worked enough to tell me the average of 40.4 mpg.

ah didn't see your thread the first time, but yeh it looks like the DIM (drivers information module) failure. There is a company who will resolder & fix it for about £100, but can't remember who

Arrgrh - £700, I'll try myself or put up with it. Just realised that I started this thread in the wrong place as the current car is 2003 D5- can it be moved?
