Airbag switch off - can you?

Is it wise to carry a child (2 yrs) in a child car seat in the passenger seat?

I don't know and I have never done this.

I know you musn't if you have an airbag.

So if its possible to switch off the passenger airbag and if so can I carry my boy in the front?

    Any advice welcome.

    Cheers

You can disable the side airbag by lifting the side cover from your passenger seat and there should be a red cap that you can slot into position to stop it from accidently going off. I still think tha a big whack might still set it off..

I never had one in my 850, so I can't comment on the front airbag. Some cars have a key inside the glove box???

Mine has, but I don't think I've ever seen a key slot for turning it off

I never have my son in the front of my car because of just this... he is almost 8 now. and has never been in the front... not because of the airbag. but if he was in the front and someone hit me or heaven forbid. a biker came off in front of me and came through the windscreen or somethign fell off a truck and bounced into the windscreen.... The child cant move as is strapped into his chair. so thats one dead child... if he is in the back and something comes through the windscreen then the front seat would save them... I know its one of those never happen to me things. but if it does.... you cant buy another child... hense why I always keep mine in the back... better to be safe than sorry I always say

I do have an airbag in the front.

But after reading Storm T post above I have decided that, even if I could put him in the front, I will not.

He will continue in the back of the car.

    Thanks ST
