Beam Benders

Driving over to Poland at the end of next week, and was wondering if there is an easy way of adjusting the Headlight beam to make it suitable for "over the water" driving ? Or do I have to use those xxxxx Beam Benders?
I have a 53 reg S60 D5.

I have some 'touring covers' which combine headlamp protectors and beam masking. I use them when we drive to Limoges in August. They block out the dip pattern rather than deflect the light making it difficult to see on unlit roads and motorways. Deflectors need to be positioned exactly or the effect is worse than not using them.

Wind the height adjuster down to its lowest setting and, in practice, no one bothers. Strictly speaking this isn't legal but i keep mine in the car with me and I've yet to be stopped in several thousand miles of driving all over France.
