I've just run a brand new V50 1.6D DRIVe for 2000 miles at a steady 80mph... end result, 53.8MPG. I guess that will improve a bit over time, but still, not bad for a big estate car!
Interestingly the infocentre UNDER-estimated the MPG by about 5%.

Thanked 281 Times in 249 PostsI recently drove down ze autobagn cough at a steady 80 mph for 70 miles in the Mrs 02 plate octavia 1.9 TDI and did 52 or 53 mpg, My Audi would probably do about 26 MPG and I guess around 30 MPG for a T5.
I bet when its run in you will get nearer 60 MPG!2004 V50 T5 SE

Thanked 192 Times in 160 Posts53mpg is good, but not good enough. For something that is designed to conserve fuel with long gears, low friction tyres, aerodynamic mods, low power/CC and is based on a focus [i.e not that heavy] it should do 50% more IMO.
I read about Bracers new car on 'phat' 18's with sport tyres/suspension...
What do other eDrive owners get out of their V50's?

Thanked 281 Times in 249 PostsWhen you look it that way I drove back in 2000 a 1986 Merc 190 2.5 5 cylinder normally aspirated diesel over 500 miles mainly cruising @ 70-80 with the odd 85-90 thrown in and some urban work and country lanes around Devon. It was when the Petrol crisis was on and I had a full gerry can in the boot for emergencys I got 50 MPG! The car was nearly run in with around 160k on the clock. In terms of performance the mercs book speed was around 109 mph 0-60 in about 14 secs so I guess not much slower than the latest eco diesels I wonder if they will be as green and last as long?

it is possible to get just shy of 70.0mpg in the DRIVe models, you have to stick between 60/70mph though.
