    I'm all excited . . .

Cos I'm about to take delivery of some bitz that should stop the old girl from getting her knickers in a twist on the laughable road surfaces we have to deal with.

In no particular order I have obtained:

Heavy duty droplinks. Front and rear. NOT the junk that comes with standard issue balljoints and thicker rods but 25mm joints AND a 4 YEAR WARRANTY! Better hang on to the bill . . .

Ball joints. Quality German parts supplied with new bolts and even new driveshaft bolts - threadlocked and everyfink.

Tie rods and track rod ends. Lower engine mount and gearbox steady.

Pick it all up tomorrow and should be fitted this weekend. I'll take some pics and post them for all you parts fetishists.

And if it still knocks after that lot's been replaced I'm gonna set fire to the bugger!

    luv'n'stuff

    John

But you can't do yours cos Les Gendarmes et les Pompiers would take a very dim view of you setting fire to the countryside (plus they've got GUNZ innit!)

Any road, I thought it had just passed its Controle Technique? What's wrong wiv it?

I too had these German HD drop links and top mount/gearbox staedy bits fitted a few weeks ago (John supplied 'em). I didn't photogrpah them in situ on the ramp as I forgot my camera (doh).

Car is much better and of course, now knock free. Recommended.

Picked it all up from work this evening.

Just look at the balljoints on that!

Meyle HD components are engineered to solve common problems, hence the extended warranty.

Thirty years in the parts game believe me I've seen some crap! This gear just screams quality.

Engine mount is very solid and purposeful. The gearbox steady actually has the Volvo logo ground off it. Overall I'm very pleased, especially to say that this little lot would've cost nearly 400 quid from PFS!

Ball joints and tie rods as well, all I have to do now is get them fitted and that's me for the next couple of MOTs with a bit of luck . . .

Missed one bit of info when I read this earlier. Engine mount - you never mentioned that previously? Problems?

Might talk to you about rear drop links if we get another salty winter.

Don't let age define you. It's a number that's all.

Yeah. Strange vibe which sounds for all the world like the exhaust is blowing its tripes out at idle but obviously isn't when you accelerate. That and its done 127k . . .

    Hi Mo.

I don't work for ECP any more! My new company is Andrew Page in Leeds. YHPM.

So this weekend saw us dodging the weather to change the drop links , engine mountings and the steering joints, inner and outer.

Here's a tip - DON'T try and put your V70 on ramps on uneven ground. It's not big and it's not clever. Especially when the nearside ramp rolls to the left and the whole shebang crashes to the ground. Never mind, just jack it up and pull the crushed ramp out from under the car!

Couldn't find any play in the steering but it wasn't half knocking. Simple solution was to change the tie rod ends and the rack ends. 'Genuine' TRW parts fitted '06 and 60k ago under used car warranty by the dealer. Now floppy enough that Pele would be pretty interested

Droplinks were bolleauxed (that's French!) and changed for Meyle HD units. Kept the ball joints as these weren't bad but I may well have them changed before we go to France in 3 weeks time.

Very impressed, the car has transformed from its wobbly nervousness into a swift, positive and surefooted feeling on all roads. I get the feeling I should've done this last year when the shox were being changed.

Look out in the Traders' Section for a special offer on P2 HD drop links VERY SOON

    luv'n'stuff
