Blue smoke Rings or Valves Seals or Terminal?

My 97 850 T-5 is blowing a bit of blue on start up and let off throttle

Been told it's one of three

    Rings
    Valve Seals
    Engine Terminal

Engine is high miles around 250k on 97 plate. Slowly working out the other issues

Old engine, but most likely a crudded up PCV system. Then tired turbo oil seals.
A compression test is probably worth doing before spending anything.

PCV all replaced by main agent soon as I got the car. Turbo seals how easy are they to get too might give it a go myself main agent is charging me too much already

Not done it myself, but people on here have got threads on it. But get a compression test first. The valves have gone ten times round the world so you need to check what is happening in there. Check compression first on each cylinder. If it is excessively low, put a small amount of oil into the suspect cylinders and retest - if this improves readings, the rings are dying. If there is no marked difference with the oil, it is more likely to be a valve problem. If compression is good either way, may be stems.
