    racing a T5

    Hi, yep another newbie! lol

I have been reading the forums and I am amazed at the level of help you guys have been handing out, great stuff!

So here I am, asking for some help, here and there, along the way on my new project.

    I'm preparing to race an 850 T5.

2 points so far: does anyone need any bits, I have a few left over!! lol
Not everything is available, I need to keep certain bits to comply with the rules.

and, how do I go about removing the front seatbelts and airbag sensor? I believe they are linked in some way?
from the expert advise on these forums,I have found the airbag/steering wheel senario.

as I say, the further in I get, I may ask for some more help, especially when it comes to rebuilding the car with performance parts.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Johnny T

    Hi John,

i'm currently working on my own T-5 getting it ready for track action, mainly 1/4mile but defo got some trackdays to do as well

as for the seatbelt/airbag problem yes i believe the seatbelt pretensioners will be linked to the same SRS system as the steering wheel airbag. Removing either will throw a fault & the rest of the system will be disabled, you could possibly remove the pretensioner & replace it with a resistor (not sure what ohmage) which will fool the system into thinking everything is still in place. Or you could do as i did & replace the factory steering wheel with an airbag-less aftermarket one & remove the whole SRS system, i assume you'll be using bucket seats & harnesses so none of it will be any use anyway

make sure you keep us posted with pictures as you go on
