    1800es

so. Just suppose I found a 1800ES, late model 73/4, good condition, not spectacular. . .

What are the pratfalls in owning such a beast?

Anyone ever put a chipped D5 in one?

Might be fun, you never know.

Sod the D5 lump, chipped or not. One of those is crying out for the V8 lump, aka the new ones made by the Konigsegg dude.

Now one of them might even tempt me away from the dark side

Don't let age define you. It's a number that's all.

I'm sorry, It must be me. I'm addicted to the off-beat howl of a 5-pot. Or a six.

I guess I'm weird like that.

OK. Another idea. T6 from an S80 mated with an M90 box. 19" wheels and slammed in the weeds. C30 leather and info display. Wood, chrome & pearl paint . . .

i've never really liked the ES estate shape on P1800, but did have a 1965 P1800 for a project (which i never actually finished). The cars themselves can be quite cheap to buy, i got mine for £500 but paid out another £300 on body panels (rear arches, outer sills) which are very expensive because you can only get them from specialists so they rule the market. Wheels are the same fitment as Nissan/Honda/Mitsubishi etc so really plenty of choice. I'd of thought room is going to be the limiting factor under the bonnet for a 5 cylinder

To be honest I would prefer a perfectly standard 1800ES. A thing of beauty.

There's a guide to the 1800 in the July copy of Practical Classics: may be worth checking that out........?

    Beautiful cars IMHO.

There's a red one that I see in a local branch of Lidl most weeks. It could do with a cut and polish.

I think they are beautiful cars.

If you feel the need to spend a few hours with a mig welder, and a spray gun. And can afford a silencer, brakes, clutch and so on and so on here's a little something.

Yeah, and that had crossed my mind as well... that much power in /that/ car would be terrifying
