They are a pig of a job - so much so that I feel it's not worth it - what I do to keep them working is when ever I leave the car for the night I open and close all the doors and I have found that has helped keep them working.

Is this at all related to when you shut the doors and the interior lights stay on when they are set to the door setting? Sorry if that sounds a stupid or obvious question.

Not sure what you mean because the interior light is also on a timer when you shut the door and only goes off before the timed period if you turn the ignition on. So are you saying that the interior light stays on after the ignition is on? If so this will have nothing to do with the micro switch in the door latching mechanism.
