19" wheels but what tyre-size?

Just bought me some 8x19" ET38 OZ Palladio for my 1997 V70, but which tyres will fit without rubbing. The car is lowered app. 40mm - I think it is a H&R or Eibach kit.

Im thinking 215/-19 or 225/35-19...

I have 225/35/19s on the front - small rub on full lock, depending on tyre - the bridgestones don't hardly rub at all.

My V70 has standard suspension and with the 19" wheels I can barely get my fingers between the arch and the tyre. Good luck with your set up.

I have 225/35/19 on a car lowered 35mm - no rubbin whatsoever, even with 4 people in. Also no rubbing anymore on lock since installing the lock stops i got off Simon that were missing of mine originally.

I have 265 (so ner!!

) on the back which are PHAT - as such I had to have the arches rolled.

Actually the ride is not as bad as you might imagine. I have quite firm shocks on bilstein B3 - and it is quite pleasant as long as the roads are not too nasty.

That's good - the potholes and knackered scottish country roads are something else up here, mine was horrible with the 18 inchers on and standard shocks.

How much firmer are the bisteins than stock? a damper upgrade is on my agenda at some point...

They are an excellent shock not at all crashy. I've previously had KONI FSD - which were less expensive and nearly as good.

Really depends what kind of ride you are after.

Mines quite firm and handles well but can feel a bit unsettled on rougher roads, a smidgen underdamped basically - which is logical considering its on stock dampers and has done 47,000 miles (a fair few of them on Scottish backroads) and harder eibach sports springs.

I like the firm tied to the road feel - esp on turn in and the longer sweeping fast corners.

Have you ever had coilovers? I'm wondering if they're much better than upgraded shocks and springs

Never had coilovers - don't want them either - horrible feel.

I was going to get coilovers, but after some advice (Wobbly) am going for Koni FSD. I think the ride on 19's is ok actually, you obviously feel more of the road as our tyres look like a stick of liquorice rapped around the rim, but all in all not bad at all.

My mother has severe back problems, her spine is crushed so basically any jolt and its noticed and she loves riding in the car, says its one of the most comfortable cars she has ever been in - and she rode in it before the 19's and lowering - so thats saying something.
