    Project BTCC

The poor girl is suffering from a 400 per day habit I'm doing the PCV this weekend, but its a bit late, as I think the RMS is blown, and I have a big oil leak coming from above the turbo.

So, it could be time for a engine rebuild, so, who do people recommend? As I've already said, I want to fit uprated rods and cams (N/A ones possibly?) fit a pedro type breather system, and a bigger turbo (18 or 19) and better manifolds, plus, the correct mapping.

Anything I've forgotten, and who is best to talk to about these mods? I don't want a flame war, just some honest opinions.

i've not finished the breather yet so not sure it works yet mate lol

i'm getting a Turbo Tuner ECU to control the mapping so can get anyone or even do it myself with a AFR gauge, i've seen people pay well over the top prices for custom mapping

as for the other bits i purchased them from whoever was the cheapest & got local people i trust to fit them. The main stealer fitted my S60R exhaust manifold with the 19t & 3" Ferrita for under £250, it was quite funny driving away from the dealer forecourt with no backbox connected lol (my local Powerflow extended the system & finished the exhaust off the next day)

Hi paul do you have a local machnic who works on your car if so why not ask him to fit the parts for you and then take the car somewhere for the mapping theres a few places around who do the mapping

Yes, I do, but he's scared of it! Doesn't mind servicing her, just not tuning

Done a bit of digging about, I think I'm going for an 18T, and a few other choice bits, any idea where I can get one from?

you can buy them new from volvo and other places but depending on how much you want to spend they do occassionally come up for sale but if i was ever going to buy second hand ide most likley get the turbo refurbed as you never really know what its like and what life it had so if you can afford it get a new one.
I think FFM bought the 19t he had off ebay its a hybrid that uses the 16t housing but he was more than happy with it.
Also send rufe a pm or ring him as he will do you a price on one.
Last question what makes you go for the 18t

Paul exactly where is the leak coming from ?

If its from the rear of the cam cover then your into good money, you may as well replace the cambelt as well while its all off.

1998 C70 T5 GT Auto, 68k, FVSH, Immaculate inside and out, only mod - poly top mount, its Yellow and no pete i didnt paint it, lol

The 18T is favoured by IPD for their stage 3 set up. Seems to work pretty well.
You can get them from European Tuning in the Netherlands Paul. Not cheap though!
There's also a company in Japan that does the 16/19T hybrid- they advertise on ebay. I was thinking of getting one myself but decided on a ported/ polished 16T. They're still good for 300+ bhp/ 330lb/ft.
