    bad starting

a mate of mine has an 1998 s40 turbo & its having problems starting,
hes done the usual checks but he seems to think theres something funny with the immobiliser...
is there any common probs with these,
he says the immobiliser or alarm warning light (flashing red thing)
    does strange things....
it wont start when the light is on,even if hes turned it off with remote,it dont always go out,
then sometimes he says the light is dim....
anyone had issues with this ?

    cheers

    Question

Not aware of any Volvo problems... but all my immobilser issues with the family cars have been to do with
    1. Little children clicking the fob out of range and the immobiliser needing to be sync'd with the key... is that one of the checks he has already done?
    2. Faulty/missing transponder...agin, little children playing...

Are these the checks he has already done?

    ,.,

    thanx for the reply mate,
as far as i know hes checked everything,
i read somewhere about that with the remotes being pushed out of range etc,but he dont hav kids but he might do it himself lol.
unfortunatly i havnt even seen the car as hes in cornwall & im in brighton.
hes even removed aftermarket alarm as he thought it might be that,
i shall mention to him about the remotes again & see what he says...
iv told him to go get codes read but im not sure he has yet...
    thanx again mate.

No worries...Ford immobilisers seem quite happy to un-sync, but only take a couple of minutes to re-do yourself. here's hoping.

Might see you on the 27 or 23 one day...

its the immobiliser ring which sits around the barrel, around £12 from Simon aka Rufe, and takes about 20mins to fit.. no need to reset or take to a dealer, problem will be solved.
