    Hi Roy,

I've got BSR - it's fine, never had any problems, however RICA you can tweak the tune later on more easily if you get more into modding.

Personally, the softloaders are OK and easy to use although you can never guarantee things will go perfectly.

MTE might be an option too - chat to Don of 'Kalmar Union' (google it) he's a volvo expert and will give you good advice (although he does sell MTE products only)

did it with a PPC - you can reset it so it's unlikely to 'kill' your car, in the worst case you can get it trailered to a volvo garage and reset.

Makes a BIG difference to the midrange, top end good but not as epic a difference, you'll need extra mods like 3" downpipe etc... for that.

PPC is a great place to start off tuning your motor

Get the IPD rear roll bar too - will really improve the handling of your car - that and a strut brace are probably the best cheap upgrades you can do.

I got the BSR unit from the dealers here - can't remember their address but if you get on the BSR website it'll tell you (i think it might be Nordic Car, parts for Volvo sell them too)

More people use RICA on here - you can also get cheaper remaps without the PPC (for a couple of hundred quid)

Try putting a post in the 'general area' about 'which remap' and upgrades to get.

you'll get loads of replies there and there's some similar threads to yours lurking around if you take a look at whats already been posted.

I'd read this before going for a BSR or RICA PPC

There will be a few folk on the t5d5 forum with a softloader in Scotland, and i'm sure could help you out if you go the MTE road.

And before anyone jumps on me I'm not saying MTE are the best tuners I just think BSR and RICA should put all there cards on the table and say once you have bought our product after a set time you will have to pay more for our services.

    Hi,

There are 2 other options if you want a PPC style programmer for your Volvo. Both are superior and/or cheaper and have a better tune. Don has his MTE Softloader and we (HLM) have our new APC and our ECM Tune Express. I will also be coming up to Scotland at least twice before the end of the year.

    Trust this helps,
    Hamish.

    Yep,

No problem, give me a call at work and I will try and explain how they all compare. There are plenty of people who have had our ATM software over the last year and everyone has been happy.

Rica dont do the PPC anymore, but they do a softloader.

the only time you would need a laptop/pc is when you need/want to update your software etc.

And the price of the remap is £440.63 and the softloader is £99.88.

    Hi,

Our new APC (ATM Programme Carrier), which isn't on our website yet, is a handheld programming device which allows you to program your Volvo with ATM (Auto Tech Motorsport) software by yourself! Designed and developed by Global Automotive Technologies, the APC brings ATM ECU upgrades to everyone everywhere!

The APC does not require a laptop whilst programming the car which means you don't need to carry a laptop around if you want to change the software in the ECM. The APC can store up to 5 tunes inside which can be downloaded to the APC device from any computer connected to the internet using a standard USB cable and ECM Sync software.

Although the APC device has the capacity to store up to 5 tunes internally, you can have an unlimited number of tunes made available which can be downloaded to the APC at any time.

If you own more than one Volvo, your APC can be used to program upto 5 cars. You don't need a seperate APC for each car - simply purchase the ATM tune software for each of your other cars and download them to the APC as required. The APC has built in error checks to ensure you can only program a car with the correct software.

The APC also provides basic diagnostic functions allowing you to read and clear DTCs, which is useful if you ever get a CEL or engine running problems that you wish to diagnose.

With regards costs and model coverage please call me.

    Regards,
    Hamish.

    Hi,

Peter Carvall of Auto Tech Motorsport Sweden has been remapping late model Volvo for at least the last 10 years. His company also builds big power engines for the later Volvos (last year they build 15!!). In the last year I have put ATM software onto over 500 cars in the UK and all of my customers have been delighted with the results. I have seen alot of different tunes on Volvo's and I can safely say ATM Tuning is head and shoulders above the other brands I have retailed in the past.

Have a look at these 2 youtube links:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFqaVFpWpa8[/ame]

    Trust this helps,
    Regards,
    Hamish.

P.S. There are people on this forum who have had there cars tuned by HLM using ATM software in the past year.
