You have some spring compressors? You will also need RIBE and Torx bits to undo the droplinks and shocker top mounts.

Take careful note of how your springs are fitted on the car. The orientation of your new spring will be obvious when you match the new to the old.

Only strip one corner at a time then you can refer to an assembly if it won't go back together.

Use your camera for any tricky detail.

The rears are quite easy I'm told.

Bolt at the bottom & then a nut on the top of the shock, the arm should drop down & the lowering spring *should* fit back in to place, possibly without compression if you can get the car jacked up enough.

The fronts I think are a pain. They look it!

You will need spring compressors for the front. You will also need to undo the bottom knuckle, anti roll bar drop links (16mm c spanner) - and the top 3 mount bolts on the suspension turrets.

so as long as you are happy to loose skin/fingers compressing the front spings - good luck!

Did the drop links on my car ages back, it's something daft like 16" at the bottom & 18" at the top. Easy is for losers! If you're not bleeding, sweating & swearing, you must be doing it wrong!

    Very true!!

I changed my springs last week. Despite what we thought, the front was very straight forward but the rear was an absolute pain....!

I opted to get my mechanic to fit the rear links when he did the springs...

I am far too lazy for that level of work without a pit/lift for the job!

Bit iffy mate, the back end will roll about & make it feel very un-grippy.

Could be done, but not reccomended as it is seen as a vital component.

Just remember that it IS a punishable offence on the road traffic act to drive a vehicle with known defective suspension, steering, tyres, brakes.. (that list goes on to cover almost every major component)

If you get stopped, it may be unplesent. IIRC you can see the rear droplinks from the back of the car. It may draw attention.

Am I daft? Do you have to change the shocks (for lower) when you change the springs?

no standard shocks are fine as long as its no more than a 30 to 40 mm drop

Most drop 35 mm don't they? I take it it would be okay to keep the standard shocks with this then??
