    Red face reverse light switch

    hi chaps need some help once more...i need 2 replace the reverse light switch on my V70R..now not sure ware to find it,and i dont have a manual to look at the mo so need some help on this be for i go diging about and cocking things up..the car is a 4 speed auto,2.3 v70r thanks 2 all once more..
    who puts 300bhp in a volvo.....DONT MIND MY SMILE, THE VOICES IN MY HEAD ARE JUST TELLING DIRTY JOKES........v70R...hids..black mesh grill...17 inch R alloys..groved and drilled front and rear disc..lots bling..,k-n filter..yamaha R1-98 with nos..touring bike honda varadero xl 1000...

    Not sure if the Auto box is the same set up as the manuals but the switch for a manual is on the side of the gearbox, you need to remove the airfilter box for better access and then use a deep 22mm socket to remove it.

    If it is the same set up then thats how you do it.

    If anybody can tell me how to do an auto for definate i'd be grateful also

    Could be the PNP switch or "Gearshift Position Sensor". Its located on top of the gearbox where the gearshift cable attaches. Unfortunately its also gonna be more expensive than manual box reverse switch.

    cheers for that mate...i think i will try the pnp switch first..would you no how long it might take 2 do and how much...the pnp sound the thing, when i reverse it comes on then off and when i hold it it stays on so might be the pnp..cheers i will take a look 2 moz..

    It wouldn't take that long, just remove the airbox, and its underneath that on top of the gearbox, then its just a few nuts and it should come off. The only problem is alignment, the unit has to be aligned, theres a second page to the volvospeed one that describes fitting the PNP switch.
