Managed (despite the heat) to get the tints done this weekend, they're not perfect even though I took the glass out as doing them in the kitchen isn't the cleanest of places. Rear window is still waiting to be done (Not looking forward to that one) but on the whole the car looks a hell of a lot better for them, what do you all think?...

The rear springs cant be cut down(otherwise they would have been done when I did the fronts), it's a composite leaf that runs across the car. I have another softer spring to replace the current one with but: A) it's a bitch of a job and b) I need some coilovers to replace the rear springs when I do it. It's a job I want to do as soon as possible but I just dont have the money at the moment. Not sure about painting the B pillar either, I'll try it in photo shop and see what it looks like first, haven't decided about the chrome yet, I like it but alot of it is scrached anyway.

can you not use the proper spacer blocks between the leaf spring & the axle? Is the axle between the spring & axle or is it chassis spring then the axle underneath it? (if its the later can it not be inverted so it the other side of the leaf spring?)

ok just re-read it & the spring goes across the car, thats different aint it

Sadly yeah it's a dumn ass system, never seen one like it before and it's a pain in the ass to do anything with. Me an Mr Smith where going to fab some new lower wishbones at one point so that the spring would sit further down in them and lower the car, being as I'm trying not to weld anymore (eyesight problerms) the easier option (albeit not cheper) is to just swap the spring out and use coilovers to assist the softer nivomat spring that I'll be putting in. If I could find out wether or not I can use standard shocks with the nivomat leaf then I could do the swap any day, sadly I'm still trying to find out.

Is there a giant, invisible magnet lifting up the rear of the car! Seriously though, i like it, and when the rear is lowered, it'll make a big difference. Oh, and get the wheels done in anthrecite, to match the windows.

If your unsure on how to do the rear window then lay the tint on the rear and heatshrink in four separate sections working clockwise. Work from the outside of the window inwards and make sure all the shrinking is done along the bottom and top of the window and not along the sides as the grain of the tint will make it melt. Any queries pm me.

    This might help

Cheers Seb, thankfully the rear window on the 960 is pretty flat anyway so getting the tint to conform shouldn't be a problem, it's just physicaly getting the tint on there is what I'm not looking forward to,lol, not a lot of room for manouvere in the back.

Don't forget the Vette. They don't handle too badly, do they?

I'm not over familiar with the suspension layout on the rear, is there no way to de-camber the rear spring or get a spacer under the centre of the spring and effectively 'raise' it so lowering the car?

Or is it not that simple?

No sadly it's not that simple, the spring can't be de cambered because it's composite (Fibreglass), it can't be moved because it's also used to support the diff in the centre of the car. Basicaly it's a pain in the arse to do anything with it, I have a Nivomat spring to swap in which will lower it a hell of a lot but without a set of nivomats I'm going to have to buy some coilovers. I've been toying with the idea of taking some sports rear shocks and doing a coilover conversion on them but I don't know how effective they'd be.

Front bumper's getting very close to being done now, painted it a little today just to see how it looked and to double check the finish for defects, found a few small ones that need re working but hopefully they'll be done tomorrow..

Bumpers painted!!!, sadly it's still a little soft so although I'm dying to fit it I don't want to risk it until it properly dry....

Although I was hoping to get the bonnet painted too I realised too late that I didn't have enough hardner left for the clearcoat, as I'm going to be busy next week it's going to just have to wait a little while longer..
