Probably won't start due to the immobiliser, but there is only one way to find out!

Thanks Adam, so if i went ahead with the deal and it wouldn't start what are the options open to me ? I've seen people on here selling used Rica chips so how do they get around it then ? Thanks.

TD You have to make sure it has he same numbers on the left hand top of the ECU serial number, Auto swapped to Auto Man>Man,Pre ME7>Pre Me7 and ME7>ME7 ect.

More than that, I think the ECU controls things like Climate control, TRACS & Cruise control on the S70R, which the S70 T5 will not have.

    Result will be:

    a) the above features won't work
    b) if the climate control works, then it will only have the functions it shares with aircon on the S70 (i.e. I doubt the temperature settings for each side, (passenger & driver) will work.

I stupidly took the chance of plugging my 850 T5 ECU into the S70 when I first bought it (the one you have now) and it started ok and immobiliser worked, but:

as the old 850 did not have aircon, it left the aircon compressor engaged permanently and burnt out the clutch on the compressor - not cheap to replace and it also then needed a regas!

    Moral of the story is:

Don't do it. *something* will either not work properly at best, or completely bust at worsed. Talk to Hamish & Adam about any possibility there might be of part-ex'ing your ECU for them remapping your S70R's ECU??

If not, as you say, buy a cheap standard ECU for the S70 T5 (Adam will point you in the right direction, they're about £100) and sell the RICA ECU, then pay to have the S70R remapped using it's own proper ECU.

Just my advise, you're free to choose whatever

Condition described as mint, oh and it's got SatNav aftermarket fitted too.

Yeah i was thinking around that, but it's a divorcee selling up soon as part of settlement so i know as a part ex they wont get much so i'm hoping on a good deal if i can. I spoke to the hubby on her behalf and he's way off beam, believe me. If i cant do a good deal i'll put the details on here in time, but so far for my eyes only lol.

From the numbers, it looks like ME7, so you can't swap.

I swapped my standard ECU for a RICA one, both S70s, mine P reg and the other an R reg. Ive had no problems with mine so far, the other car ran ok once swapped and dont know whether they had any problems later as i think the bloke traded the car in the next day.

ME7 is unique to the car it came from. It will not work in anything else. Selling it is useless.
