i would go for a pannel as the engine bay fill's with so much hot air.the standed air box has a pipe which feeds air from the front of the bonnet.im running with a k&n pannel works well !!!

i prefer cone filters, i did try a Pipercross Viper which is a sealed filter & didn't notice any gains so went back to an open cone

I think in the end you'll get better gains from a panel filter in the standard airbox but you'll get more induction roar from a cone.. (Unless of course you get a cone with a decent heat shield in which case go for that).

    Hi,

I've preformed the following air filter mods:

    - Replacing the old air intake hose for a much larger one
    - Removed the cold/hot intake (bottom half of the air filter box)

I used a cone filter but on my volvo 850 na 2.0 20v I still had to attach it to the MAF Sensor (top half of the air filter box) & used that to help as a heat shield.

What a difference in the sound! From 2000 RPM it starts to roar and then from 4100 RPM you hear the god of thunder!!

    Chris.
