Its been mapped already. Don't get me wrong, when it gets going, it seems pretty fast, just seems to take a while. Think its the longer gearing compared to my t4 (4 spd auto vs 5spd auto), and the fact that my t4 seemed to have magical powers. lol.

just put the car in sports mode and hold it on the break at about 2000 rpm when the start light come on and then let the car go and it will go promise you remember your car has a bigger turbo than a t4 .and also jamest5r misses gayle 850 pulled a 14.6 with only a remap nothing else

I guess we'll see how quick it is come the day. I'v gotta say, the 5cyl engine sound fantastic when they get past 3000rpm, don't do the mpg any good though!

As all this talk of d5s, was wondering if there are any d5s going to york? Even better if any are modded. Would be good to see what they can do. Could we also have a list of the cars that are going? So we can have a quick look at whats going, without going through the whole thread. I'll be in an s70r auto, as long as nowt bad happens to it.lol

Agreed, if just to show that not all diesels are slow. Was behind a bmw 335cd a few months back, on a dual carriage, when i was in my t4, could not believe how quick it was, talk about instant power! Every time the traffic cleared, it just went! Prob the quickest normal car i'v seen (if you can call a £35k car normal, but you get what i mean).

At least we have 1 diesel coming then. It should be quick but i think the spread of power will have a lot to do with how fast, if its like the vw/audi (lots of power, but runs out of steam quickly) it may not be suited to a 1/4 mile, if its like a bmw diesel (seems to have a much longer power band), then i can see it surpising lots of people!

I hate the turbo diesels on the motorways, think they go alot better at high rpm / speed there doing,i had a play with one of the bmw's lol and yes they are pritty quick but there Torque figures are 428 lb-ft ,never the less he couldnt shift me from his back bummper lol think he was pritty Pi**ed about that lol

The turbo diesels just get more performance without changing down a gear or two - the 335d is a beast tho - I heard somewhere they often turn out more than the 272 bhp quoted.

The thing that amazed me about torque was how utterly pisch through the midrange a Honday S2000 seemed compared to my stock (at the time T5) when i had a shot in one.

Diesels always seem quick on the smaller increments (50-70 etc...) but lose out when they need to change gear and drop out of the power band (like 30 to *cough* 70 coming out of roadworks on the M-way)
