Personally I think Tim would be the best to ask on this situation as ypu say he's running the sort of power levels dave is wanting to achieve.
Tim has on many occasions tested to destruction with constant track use the weak points of these engines and has just about ironed out all the little fixes there is! Steve also ran 458bhp and had no liner issues for the life span of his car and when it was broken the where no issues found with splitting liners Tim had also shimmed that block!

I have no real clue if it's worthwhile or not, but I suspect not - certainly for most of us.

Amongst all the poop flinging was a link to a Polish firm doing a similar thing ; http://satistech.com/offer/closing-volvo-engine-blocks/

That seemed to appeal to more folks than the other way on that thread. I don't know what Shem does to be fair.

naa not a liner engineer I know when not to comment cos I know nowt about the subject - I know my own limits of knowledge. If people are willing to use their engine to test different methods of reinforcing liners then that's up to them. Pointless arguing about whose method is better without either loads of testing or decent analysis like finite element/CFD/whatever the F1 teams use....not many people have the spare coin for that!! Hoop stress my hoop!

I have given this a great deal of thought & read a lot of opinions & talked to Mr. Williams - I have decided to just shim the B5234T3 block and leave the deck open. Money will be diverted into a SMF/ new clutch arrangement - to reduce the rotational inertia, even though this may slightly reduce driveability - I am already fully committed to have one of the fastest Volvo's in the UK.

I will be using a waterless coolant option this time & seek to get some kind of water/methanol injection.

Credit card is going to get spanked - long & hard this year! But the EURO has strengthened against GBP & with my new day rate secured I think we should be OK. Let the buying commence!!

Glad to hear your going ahead with the build Dave if your after Methanol injection I have a tank which fits under my spear wheel and holds about 13 litres and the pump is hidden in the boot on the rear wheel arch under the liner. I use the AEM progressive system. I have had Devils own but running neat methanol as i do eats plastic internals where as the AEM pump just keeps on trucking all day long.

Have you thought about mapping? for running in you need the fuelling to be spot on. I would discuss this with Shark sooner rather than later to see what they can do? boost needs to be low with a low rev limit and standard ignition position just for running in. As you know if the fuelling is not spot on to start with it will brake down the oil and in a very short space of time leading to bearing failure.

Also have you though anymore about getting another head dipped as the ME7 heads are prone to cracking at times?

    Cheers Greg

Are you selling the Meth/Water kit?

I will dip the head if it comes back from testing ok. I suspect from the amount of grey cappuccino in the oil channels that it is unlikely to be good news.

As for mapping Shark would be my 1st choice.

Speaking of good news - this showed up today...

from Germany. It looks to be in pretty good nick.

Plan is to re-bore & hone it & shim it. Dunno if it is worth cryo-dipping.

Good news - I am still alive after 44 years. Better news is that the head came back with no cracks! Been cleaned and faced and is ready to be used on the next evolution.

I cleared down more stuff out of the bay. Still in 2 minds whether to junk the air-con (it still works).
