I am actually lost. Your thinking of buying a new car, to put it an engine you've blown up into?

I was thinking that with the BC coilovers, paintwork, SBS and the ETM in good order on Victor-ia, I could fix up the the good bits from Betsy including the broken engine and almalgamate into 1

vs. just fixing up Betsy as she is and then addressing the other issues and desired improvements.

or just give it all up - break the car

or park her up, stick a waterproof cover on her and forget about it.

You are so close now with Betsy it seems mad not to see it though, but then it wasn't me doing the work and footing the bill and taking the heartache, so I do understand. But to be fair to Betsy, you have gone into a whole new area and some teething troubles are to be expected, it will just be down to how much you can take before you and betsy succeed in your 1/4 mile targets, as I sure she will great out on track too. These annoying hiccups are a real pita for you and jimbob but your both so close, so please don't give up on her yet, she has more to give

P.s almalgamate maybe should have been amalgamated.....lol

I don't think I am done yet either - even though I said in January this was the last roll of the dice.

There are also other technical reasons for wanting a later ME7 C70 - particularly in reference to the tacho signal for the Blitz. Due to the early nature of the wiring loom it is near impossible to get the right signal. I've had to make do.

Even the MY2000 has a slightly different loom and a signal you can easily tap from the binnacle.

Then the cosmetic issues and the fact that the black one is black (a preferred colour) and has the coilovers I've been after and the ETM may well be better. On the downside the map is not transferable, though I do need to fix up the map anyway.

Is 1.7 bar too much ?? Do I need to re-evaluate how much boost to run and FYI I didnt run the full bore boost on the road (just actuator pressure).

The fact that Dean only runs 1.3 bar, and is quicker than the rest of us probably means you should be looking at other short falls in the car, the set up, or maybe even the driver.

some good reasons there Dave, so with those in mind I can no longer comment on it, Just didn't want you to give up on what I think is a great car, but I do see where you think the shortfalls are with Betsy ( is this just a harness issue and can you upgrade it or tap in elsewhere ) best of luck in which ever way you go mate

first thing id be looking at is why has the head failed. Oil in each cylinder suggests the head has lifted to me. If it was gasket failure then youd only expect isues with on or two pots. Chin up though dave youve got another winter to play with it and get it write. On the mapping side it might be worth having a bit crack with john. He seems to have the me7 stuff sussed out

Sounds like what happened to my red 850r, I'd take the engine to where Jim had his built seems to be a much more reliable build his is mapped at 2 bar remember and never has any issues.

1.7bar (25psi) is nowhere near enough to lift a head, mine was fine at 2.4bar until it split a liner and still runs 2 bar with the liner repair.

Back in March following a "Watch this" demo with a friend, I accidentally spiked the engine to 2.4 bar, because the MBC hose was kinked following the reworking of the engine top mount or something innocuous.

I had sniffer tested it since then and it came up clear but I can't think it would have helped.

No I am of a mind to buy the black one - for political reasons as well as practical, as it will show that I have listened to Ellen's advice about getting a new project car. Still mulling it over.

Your still going to have to either fix this engine, or fit the rods into the blacks current engine so got a good chance of having the same issues. But now you've got the time & extra expense of putting it all into the new car

An etm shouldnt be a hard fix for the right person, yes coil-overs are expensive to buy but is it just in buying a whole car for

Sort out the engine by changing the head gasket.

Then de-me7 it and fit it a pre me7 car.
