Progress has been frustrating at times, but I remain determined to get this evolution completed. I have bought some proper drag radials this week - proper compound for 17 inch wheels. I am of a mind to get the 17s dipped with carbon fibre pattern - though I am still in 2 minds. I also have a set of 18 inch tyres (federal RSR) but no alloys and I still cannot make up my mind about which way to go.

Nearly forgot to mention I have taken delivery of the 15mm H&K wheel spacers and a set of elongated wheel bolts, so that the 17s will fit over. It increases the track width for better cornering. I am however quite drawn towards Bola as an alloy choice.

I have also bought ducting hose for the new ITG enclosure. Junking the air con and pipe work will mean that the larger 5 inch tube will fit nicely into the NSF corner.

I plan to get a set of ordinary backing plates and weld some tubes onto the back and create a ducted solution for the brakes running from where the front fogs are (front fogs are coming off).

I am also looking a front traction bars (removable for drag race use only) - the aim of which is to resist the movement of weight to the rear inherent with FWD drag racing. I will make them removable so that they can be taken to the strip - installed and then removed when the day is done. - something like this... Name: IMG_1882.jpg

More than anything I need to learn how to weld. Paying for these - it can't be that hard to weld some tubes onto the standard backing plates??

Get some back plates, then you can bring them to me to either weld, or you can have a go for yourself.

Happy New Year to all - I have done quite a bit of reassembly over the last 3 months - most of which I have moaned and droned on about on my new project drivetribe channel (linky below).

Had some fun installing a helicoil or 2 - and discovered that the engine mounts on an 850 block section are indeed different to that of C70 ME7. The new inner timing belt cover that I ordered from FRF underwent some significant plastic surgery with no anaesthetic. The more observant will see that my new AC pump is a bit smaller and lighter than before.

I have also deployed some rivnuts to move the removed AC condensor to make more room for the engine. The interior is stripped back too - just waiting on some fabrications for the harness bar - I am retaining the 3 point inertia seat belts up front but the rears have been junked now, as have the rear seats. I am trying to retain some of the daily use - but with the new SRS regulations for MOT - they also might have to go as with the front air bag.

The other blue things are now fitted to the back of the engine Name: new_blue_turbo_from_os.jpg

All I am waiting on now is a new engine crane as I am not lifting this bugger on my own.

Nice one Dave, that blue stuff is very striking.

I remember putting my engine together and thinking how good it looked. Only problem is once it's in the car it gets hidden by all the other stuff

    Does look awesome

I'm not shy of trundling up and down the country with my crane in the boot.

Give us a shout if you get stuck and could do with someone to swear at it 'til it fits.

I haven't been entirely idle or lacking in Wobblyness. https://drivetribe.com/p/EUQXEkuPS8S...SHqbqMlslB5Icg

Besides this I also fitted my bottom pulley (for the aux. belt) on backwards, which is why it didn't line up and the belt was half hanging off. DOH! And yes I did thing for a while that the crank or bottom timing belt pulley was a different width/length. But other than that - it is perfect (ahem).

I'd say I was 90% of the way there now. Still battling a few minor niggles - but the stupid rebuild following me bending the exhaust valves on #5 on the first cam cover fit are now behind me. I have a long term fuel trim error that I am chasing down (bought some smoke pellets). Talked to Shark today about tuning the damn thing. Craig is designing me some custom covers. I have finally managed to recess the chassis (lump hammer style) to stop the 3" from catching. The GWE sounds nice (if not a little loud) but the new collector has pulled it up some so it was necessary to knock several shades of poo in various places to stop it pinging on various bits going over bumps in the road.
