Could be the oil cooler inside the radiator has split, get a 'sniff test' done on the engine before fearing the worse.

Bit the bullet and ordered a new rad from Rufe, All sorted now.

i was running around with crude oil in the water this summer, i knew it wasnt the engine as it would not overheat even when it was really hot !
changed the rad and all is still good !!

The water rad has the 2 oil coolers built in to both end tanks (one for auto gearbox and one for engine) I didn't know this until it was pointed out by another member (Thanks again storming) Pretty sure the rad was only £107 delivered to the door, And it's guaranteed to last, Unlike one from a breakers.

I found that alot of the aftermarket supplier (Valeo etc) don't fit the coolers in their rad's, infact they list normal rad for the T5, a normal rad from them is £70, one with a cooler £200

£218 + Vat from Rufe, that is without a discount as a couldn't speak to simon, i won't be getting that then,

How long will it take to blow-up / breakdown, is there a danger of wrecking the car as i live in the country, i think i might have to phone the breakers around the country as i don't like driving the car like this, the radiator only needs to last 4/5 months i've just been told as we need a van that's diesel, i can't afford to run this, such a shame because i love it, apart from being an auto, it's a fun car, i'm sad and going to bed!!

More than likely it'll lunch the gearbox if left for too long, why not try a breakers instead if money's a bit tight, You can contact Nads on here or alternatively try Readview (also on here) or Salvo.

Yes the retail price was just over £250 including vat, as I have told you since in the email I can do it for £183 plus delivery with DHL at £10.00

If you call up and cant speak to me you will only be given full retail price as i sort all the online discounts out in emails and Pm's and give you a unique reference number to use when ordering.

These same radiators were a lot cheaper until very recently, £108 delivered, but a few weeks back we found that Volvo had put the prices back up after being on this reduced rate for over a year.

Yip, it certainly is, though they were a similar price in the past, but volvo did a 3 month price drop on them (why this was i don't know) but never put the price back up after 3 months as planned. its about 15 months now, and we thought they were keeping them down, as at that price i was selling them all the time, now they are much less competitive we probably wont sell anywhere as near as many as we have been as people will be looking for non genuine versions, which is a shame really as the volvo rad's are very good quality in fairness.

I've just had the wonderful job today of flushing all the oil out of the cooling system of a Focus diesel after the oil cooler split internally. Every pipe I pulled off was full of oil and there was no coolant circulation at all. Last resort I had to drain the cooling system completely, refill it with paraffin then run it, flush it, blow through with an airline, refill it with paraffin, run it, flush it, refill with water, run it, flush it etc, etc. Took hours and was a disgusting job. If you want to know if it will cause any damage if you leave it then HELL YEAH !!

I love the idea of flushing it out, muck don't scare me, the problem i have is only having £100 for a radiator, we are doing £50+ a week petrol in this car, havn't been able to afford it from when i got it, but i love it and it's the best car i have ever had, it really only needs to last till february without getting damaged, then we will have a new car and i can put this away, but i'm feeling it won't last that long as it is, i shall now go and look for a second hand one.

    thanks all :0)

If it's not leaking that bad, Most of the oil 'should' collect in the expansion tsnk, Mine did. I only ran it for 2 weeks though as I was on 6am until 6pm at the time, And didn't have time to change it. Keep sucking the oil out and you might be lucky. Can't guarantee the gearbox side will be fine though, And the first you'll know about that is your car will stop.
