    Wipers again

Hey guys, long time no chat!

I'm needing some general advice, I have had a strange issue with my rear window wiper & the headlight wipers.

Months back my rear window wiper stopped parking correctly, no real reason or obvious cause, the motor was clean & dry, free of rust or obvious mechanical damage. This however has since dissapeared only to be replaced by a broken headlight wiper motor (one works the other doesn't).

My silly questions are as follows....

    1. Could there be a link in the faults (electrical or elecronically - software)

    2. Can I replace the headlight motor cheaply with a S/V/C70 motor?

    3. If not then can anybody source one as I'm losing the plot on where I can obtain one on the cheap.

Cheers as always chaps & good holidays to you all.

    1. I doubt it.

    2. I don't know.

    3. Maybe, see below.

Most of this won't be of any use but some of it might:-

    http://www.saab9000.com/procedures/e...wiperepair.php

I was given this site after asking a few questions over at a Saab forum, and there lots of useful info there for saabs (of course) but the dismantling of headlight motors might be useful, I'll wager the designs are very similar.

    In addition, it does give a supplier address too;

    ELLIS COMPONENTS
    Stonebroom Ind. Est.
    Stonebroom
    Alfreton
    Derbyshire
    DE55 6LQ

    Tel: 01773 873151
    sales@ellis-components.co.uk

    http://www.ellis-components.co.uk/

It seems the motor in the Saab unit is a Bosch one, and it may be Bosch in Volvo's too, might be worth a try...

I'm seeing an expensive call to Rufe in the new year!

I'd honestly guess that the old saab ones are very similar, but I'd assume that if there's a water/rust/breakage issue then it may be less stressful & save my fingertips just to try & buy one.

Also I'm very against removing the bumper myself... (chicken I know)

Anyone aware of a P2 (2001-2004) that's breaking at the moment? I'm looking for the passenger side one, but I'd take a set if necessary.

    Cheers

Indeed, Price is a shade over one ton.

I may have to look at the scrappy route as I cannot justify that for a motor.

    Anyone have a spare going?

I'll trade you for a Metis wheel on a brand new tyre?

Keep the old one and strip it down, you might find it's something simple/stupid that stopped it from working.

Sounds like the park switch/mechanism to me. Bet somethings lose/broken, or the cam for the park switch is worn. Or a wire has broken.

If it's like any of the other headlamp wipers I've seen before you'll probably find the mechanism is under a two inch layer of araldite/epoxy effectively preventing access.

    Screwdriver and a dark street . . .

    AND GUESS WHAT.....

The rear wiper stopped working again today. It's now back to random parking again!

    The joys!
