    Tramlining with Pegasus 18s

It may be pure coincedence, but since fitting genuine Pegasus 8x18 wheels onto my V70R, I have noticed quite a considerable amount of tramlining, especially on poor road surfaces.

Tyres on the front are Kuhmo 225 40 18 and have approx 5mm tread.

Has anyone else suffered similar when upsizing on their wheels and tyres, and what did you do to solve the problem.

    Anyone experienced tramlining with Kuhmos.

Never had any problems with the Comets and 205 45 17 Pirellis P zero, Michelins Pilots or Vredesteins Ultracs. (all 4 wheels had the same make of tyre)

    Muchas

The only time I've noticed tramlining has been when the tyre depth has been low. It was especially bad until today (tyre change time ) when I coughed up £450 to get 4 new ones.
Interestingly I got them laser alligned and with a long talk with the mechanic he set it to the settings of the 2000 V70R which has 18" as std and on the drive home (allowing for bedding in and release agent on the tyres) it does feel better.

General consensus seems to be that the V70s handle best on 17"s. Certainly that was my experience...

Tramlining - people have complained with all makes of tyres (esp the Pirellis) so I wouldn't blame the Kumhos.

Never had a problem with 18 ins on an 850.
Might take a while to get your tracking set correctly.

I had my 4 wheel laser alignment carried out when I fitted the Pegs, so had the camber and toe angles set correctly. These were camber = -0deg 30mins, toe = 0deg 10mins. Caster remained at 3deg 20mins

I've found the cause of the tramlining.....my left lower wishbone forward mount is worn. Pretty frustrating really since I replaced both lower wishbones exactly 12 months ago.

Anyway, was given a replacement free of charge........
