Hi all,
Been away from the forum for a while now after parting with my beloved c70 t5 in july 08, mainly trying to reduce my fuel bills.
Since then I have owned a citroen saxo which was crap, a 04 plate Renault Laguna which was crap, a 05 plate Octavia Vrs which was okayish but got I bored after 6 months so decided to buy a 07 plate Corsa Sxi as a cheap but sporty looking daily driver which I now have owned for 3 months - and if I still have it at Christmas I will die of shock as it is a truely terrible car!
Anyway I have decided to return to volvo land and have been trying to decide whether to go for a s60r or a s60 t5. The one thing thats got me is that the T5's I have been viewing on the net are 2.4s as apposed to original 2.3, yet the later T5's in the S40/V50 is a 2.5 with a LPT. Can anyone advise what the 2.4s are like in comparison to the old 2.3s with regards to power delivery etc?

S60 T5 2.4 turbo 250 bhp, S60 R 2.5 300 bhp to be honest i have had 2 850 T5`s and the 850 R, i have had the pleasure of driving the new C70 T5 and to be honest it is just a lot more refined version of the previous T5`s in the range, power is a lot smoother i found (above figures are prob wrong been away from volvo`s for to long lol)

Thanked 3,484 Times in 2,466 Posts I'd take the T5 over the S60R anyday of the week. The late version with the 2.4l tunes very well and has none of the associated AWD issues with angle gear.
The 2.5L S60R engine has had too much taken out of it - and I have heard horror stories of cracked cylinder liners.Last edited by Wobbly Dave; Tuesday 1st December 2009 at 15:31. Reason: Forgot to say.

Thanked 281 Times in 249 PostsIf I was after another T5 I would go for the later 2.4 T5 but if fuel economy is required try a chipped D5 you will be impressed I myself may go to the Dark side if my insurer trys to rape me with my 9 points
