    Angry Erratic Idle

    Hello all, back again,
after much faffing about Ive finally replaced the MAF sensor (bosch of course). But the idle is a bloody pain. I have the geartronic box and when in Park its as smooth as a nut at 750 rpm. put it into Reverse or drive and the wobble starts between 800 - 600 up and down and up and down bloody annoying in traffic. Any ideas?
Been looking at existing threads and Id rather start with the easy stuff (not being very mechanically minded) before I go onto cleaning the ETM!!!!

    Oh yeah V70 T5 Phase2 2001 x plate.

Check for leaks in the charge system. Make sure the pressure and intake temp sensors are properly seated. Make sure any clips holding on hoses are nice and tight too.

The two sensors in question are the ones directly behind the radiator fan, on top of the black hose that goes from the intercooler to the throttle module, the black pipe is just below the inlet manifold.

They are right next to each other, with a cable attached to them.

You haven't had any autologic gearbox software updates have you...?

Assuming plugs are good and there are no other leaks, I'd get the throttle body cleaned.

Assuming you have fixed it by now...?

Firstly your car shouldn't be idling at 750rpm. It should be 850rpm. secondly i had exactly the same problem on my car when i first got it. Software flash is the first port of call...if the DTC light comes back on then it is not cured. Mine was intermittant and a real PITA. Take it back, get your wallet out and hand over £300 for a new ETM and software reprogramme. Believe me, your car will drive even better than it does now!! You will have gotten used to it by now, but with a new ETM it will be a different car.

What's this freewheel on deceleration? Sounds like something I may have.

freewhell on deceleration is the old way tiptronic box worked when you took your foot of the throttle it put box into nuetral. Problme was as valve body in the gearbox wore out the gears would then clunk back in when you pressed the throttle, quick fix by main stealer reprogrammes the box to stop it going into freewheel

That sounds exactly like what I have. You just asked the dealer to reprogramme the box and it was fixed?

This only works when your stationary. If your moving then it won't freewheel. It's designed to save fuel when stationary in traffic.
