can you tell if its been chipped ?

chaps, ive always been convinced that my 2.4t is chippd in some way

1. its always felt way too fast for 190bhp, pretty similar to my old T5 in midrange acceleration

2. the Winter button doesnt do anything, suggesting that the ECU has been interfered with in some way


is there any definitive way to tell if the car has been chipped ?

hi mate have u had it on a rolling road that will tell you.. they do a print out with a standerd car...thats what they did on a cosworth i had..

just thought you might be able to check visually somehow (or if the faulty winter mode was a clue )

Has the pop rivet been replaced on the ECU box strap where it meets the bodywork? Usually a giveaway.

Is the winter mode not run off the autobox ecu rather than the engine ecu
?
remap shouldn't affect gear box operation

slightly off topic does anyone know if you can reprogramme the gearbox ecu ?
