    Ets fault pls help

Hi Guys new to site so bare with me as i might post on wrong pages as never used site like this before.

My ets light and ecu light have come on i plugged a scanner on and it tells me of 2 faults .
    1. cam knock sens not a prob there can find them.

    2. ets . where or what controlls the electronic throttle sensor ? my car is a 98 C70 T5 GT Auto (if this helps) with it being fly by wire i took out the pedal and cleaned pcb and brushes in the box that the pedal has att. to it, re fitted but no joy ets light came back on within 5 mins of driving ,i`ve replaced the air mas meter and still have fault where is the throttle body located ? can this also contribute to a ets fault ?

    any ideas or help ?
    regards
    wes

    ETS = ETM....

Oh dear... Either it needs a clean or the ETM may need to be replaced, but most times a clean out sorts it if it has not been done before.

Do a search on here for ETM & brace yourself!

Look down the gap between the front of the block and the slam panel, you're looking for a black, plastic unit fitted to the front of the engine, that is the ETM. On top of it should be a Magnetti Marelli sticker. What colour is the sticker?

oh dear no xmas presents for the kids this year then! lol
its a white mm sticker with a green dot in one of the corners ?
might it be just a case of taking off and giving a good clean with contact cleaner / carb cleaner ?
    regards
    wes

White means it's the original item, the replacements had yellow stickers. Cleaning it only delays the need to replace the unit, and Volvo no longer do the free clean & software upgrade. Replacement costs roughly £250 all in at a maindealer (and it has to go to one as it requires a software download to be installed).

You can try cleaning it first before going for new ETM.

hi kyebosh just worked it ta for info. i`ve been on to volvo but they have told me they dont do it any more hence the nice possible bill if they fix it. do you know if a private / specialist can do it ? as it will need a software up grade. or is it poss to take one off another car ?

wez, did you have any luck getting it sorted? my ETS light has come on, codes read, just points to MAF sensor but it's showing no other symptoms of a faulty maf.
