    help needed identifying manifold

hi there, im planning a rwd conversion using a t5 engine, but as you will know the throttle body is facing the wrong way, iv found this pic of a t5 with a different inlet manifold but have o idea what its off, does any one else know?

also while im at it my engine(the t5) has a distributer, what is involved in coverting it to dis, im hoping its just a ecu, loom and some coil packs but iv got a feeling it wont be that easy! the engines from a M reg 850 t5

    thanks

thats an ME7 manifold, their fly-by-wire so not got a throttle body but an ETM unit underneath in the centre

the ME7 set-up also uses the coil-pack system your on about instead of a dizzy, not sure how easy it would be to convert a pre-99 engine to ME7 in terms of transferring the sensors over but as said above the throttle system is different& doesn't use a cable

basically yes, you can tell which cars are ME7 from the outside as they've got a blue badge on the grill instead of the older black badge

    these might help you

the underneath, the hole for the ETM is bigger than that of a 850/960 throttle body so you'll be able to make it fit with an adaptor plate

the inlet ports (& think the studs) are a different shape so you'll either need a complete ME& head, or the bottom of the cam casing might mate upto the pre-ME7 top section/cam cover (let us know if you find out on that one please)

not sure why i posted this pic really, looks nice tho lol

If you remove the electronic control unit off the side of an ME7 throttle body you should be able to fit an arm on the spindle to atach a cable. The throttle is very lafge fo ra cable operated one though.
