Question New Wishbones or New bushes ?

I cant afford the £224 for genuine Wishbones and i dont fancy buying scantech cheapos, is it easier to replace the bushes with genuine ones ( £5 odd each x 4 )

Do they need to be pressed in with a machine or can it be done by joe bloggs ( me ) with tools i have at home ?

£20 odd for genuine bushes seems a good way to go, but if they need to be pressed in properly with a machine then that may be expensive

Hi if the ball joints are ok fit power-flex lower arm bush's they will last a lot longer and make a big difference to the handling of the car, i made the mistake of fitting patten parts and had to replace them with 10 months had only done 5000 miles in that time and they were completely kackered, just fitted power-flex one's well worth the money, got them on ebay set of 4 lower arm Bush's and the top engine mount for £70 delivered.
You don't need a press but a vice and a big hammer will come in very handy

I doubt there will be any difference from the scan tech to the volvo ones also as been said above ide cheack the ball joint but im geussing if the whish bones look old the ball joint will be very slack.
Best thing to do if you can afford it is to buy new wish bones and then fit powerflex bushes

Ball joints seem to last ages on 850's. Avoid pattern bushes and arms, they really are pants. The bushes aren't too hard to replace, you can get the old ones out with some big sockets and a length of threaded rod. Polybushes require no special tools to put in. Fit the bushes first (they should just push in by hand or tap in with a rubber mallet) then tap the stainless sleeves through the bushes using plenty of copper slip, job done.
