Question Dont believe the hype? Or do you?

Im currently getting an average fuel consumption reading on the info centre of between 29 and 31mpg?
How accurate is that do we think? Im thinking its quite good considering the age and type of motor?

Is that your Lambda light on?

On the V70 we haven't believed the readout since we got it, it's showing average 33 mpg and with my right foot that can't be right.

My T5 returned a steady 18 mpg on town duties over three years, but could do 38+ on a 55mph fifth gear run. Not that it had many of those...

The R is thirstier, but WTF - it's cheaper than smoking, drinking and girlfriends. Whether it is as much fun - well, there's a debate...

Since I am married, and don't smoke or drink the only expenditure is BLOODY EVERYTHING!
    KISS Rs

850R manual, Rica 310, IKEA fitted bathroom, H&C running water, Jetex 2.5", pipe rack, cap stand, Forge BOV, circular wheels with full 360 degree rotation, 302mm discs, IPD front and rear anti-roll bars, numerous shiny features, sub-atomic particle accelerator, VTOL capability ...Volvo With Attitude!!!
Also to be seen in a gold Honda CR-V these days...

Yip HLM 304'D so not the average

Sport mode, red lining it all the way from 0 - too well over 2 figures anyway

That was after i reset the trip from a stand still.

The 42.5 was with me and the Mrs and 4 kids and a load of picnic gear as well.

The simple test is as follows:

Brim it when you fill it - as full as you can get it petrol literally frothing in front of your eyes at the filler.

    Then drive 150 miles.

The repeat the brim it test.

Check how much fuel you have added (your petrol receipt for the forgetful) and then do the maths on how much it cost you to do the 150 miles.

Thats as accurate as you will ever get.

    Cheers
    Volvo 855 2.5 10v CD
