    help! help! help!

    hi all in need of help asap i've got a 1997 v70 R auto it has been driving fine except for i took my k&n air filter of and put the original one back on since then it's been juddering on boost but still driving fine then i've gone out to get in it tonight and it's struggling to start when it does it wont tick over and if i put my foot on the gas it just misses like billy o then cuts out i did get it to rev up a bit but was just missing and kicking out black smoke then died any ideas guys need to sort it as in the middle of house move cheers all ben.

    did you put the plug back on the MAF sensor when you removed the lid?

    yep did that was all running fine since friday apart from judder on boost

    dodgy HT lead sounds the next idea to me, might of disturbed it while doing the filter & iits slowly getting worse

    cheers i'll check them anything else i should have a look at why i'm there would it be worth me putting the k&n back on before doing anything with that on it boosted fine and was ok cheers for your help

    no problem. Its not the filter, just something you've knocked/disturbed while changing it mate

    the black smoke is fuel not burning so the fault is on the ignition or air side, the other common cause for miss-firing is the rotor arm & dizzy cap. I don't think you could of affected them while doing the filter tho
