Seems there is quite a variation in consumption on these old girls. Mine is a reliable 30-34mpg and thats with the HLM re-map. Seems some are as low as 20mpg. No slight on anyone but if they were all healthy and serviced, maybe the figures would be higher. Just a thought.....

Also depends where we live, the type of road we drive etc.

IE. In Bristol on my 3.5 mile commute one way I achieve about 21-22mpg in medium to heavy rush our traffic.

If i stay at my parents for a week in the Countryside where the roads are small 30 section and then national for 5-6 mile before any kind of need to slow down I can just 28-30mpg all day.

On a steady 70-75 mph gentle run on the motorway with the odd squirt of the throttle on V-Power or BP Ultimate I can get 31-34mpg.

Stock T5 Manual with 135k 2 Passengers and a dog.

The t5 fuel consumption isnt crap, its what you expect given what the car is, if you were getting those figures from a toyota yaris then yes they would be crap, horses for courses

In fact, given the power/size/weight, the consumption is good on the T5. Maybe a D5 for you sir.

You should all think yourselves lucky, my wife drives my V70R most of the time and does the daily commute of 15 miles half bypass miles, she is lucky to see 17mpg, she doesnt use the A/C cos it dries up her contact lenses. I drive a van all week so normally have a blast at the weekend when it drops to about 12, if we go for a good run on the motorway we get about 24mpg.

It really pisses her off, she wants a Fiat 500 now for the economy, they look good also but it would be my 5th vehicle to insure so no way.

My brother has a Cerberra and he usually sees about 4mpg so i consider myself a very lucky man!

Mrs P.A. gets better mpg out of our 850 T5 than I do, but that is due to her driving style, she doesn't have the lead clogs that I have.

Is that down the bank at Clevedon South Bound on the M5?

urm hate to upset the faithful but on my way home from reading to basingstoke i was recently rather shocked when i looked down at my average mpg. now concidering in the morning going the other way i was getting 32mpg. I'll let the pic do the talking. pic taken by passenger.

the route is one mile out of reading then is 50mph a road and then 3miles round ring road at national then 40mph town to home. this was taken mid 50mph zone and ended at 39mppg
Car is an 850 saloon 95n that's done 172500 miles regularly serviced by myself every 5-6k although when the urge comes about and a full tank of juice is there it does hit low 20's but as said its a 1700 kg car with a big 2.3 turbo engine. don't expect huge amounts of economy.

Out of interest has anybody noticed a difference in MPG between having the M56H fitted rather than the M56L ?
