Well today I tried the Map off Map on idea. First of all took it off and drove around a bit. Everything absolutely fine no difference with AC on or off so thought it must be the map. However then I put the map back on and still fine!!!! I can feel the AC kicking in more with the map on but nothing really. So God knows, maybe it is just the AC unit on the way out. I have updated my PPC off the net so will try that at the weekend to see whether theres any difference. Probably not as surely RICA would let me know if they'd changed the map? Wouldn't they?

On another positive note, I keep forgetting how much difference the RICA map makes!!! Bloody hell my cars fast! Even with the problems I still don't regret for a second getting it now!

There is one thing that is quite bad with the ppc unit is it isn't clear whether you are returning the car to original or putting map on. At least that's my experience so far. It's only when you drive the car that you really know!

Eg. If I have the map off the car (ie. Standard) and I 'tune car' then as you'd expect, I get the map on the car.

If I then choose to 'tune car' again, the ppc returns the car to stock.

I know i'm not being daft as I've repeated this process a number of times after initially being confused as to what was going on, and this is indeed the case!

    It's here mate:-

I don't think that is linked from the base site, but it's a link that came with the ppc unit in the docs.

I can echo marks comments about how the car is without the map. Startling is the difference, it's like driving through treacle!

I did say it's probably a regass of the AC that's needed.

It's just possibly a bit of junk in the system getting the pipes clogged & putting undue strain on the system, and thus the engine had to compensate.

    A flush & refill methinks!

    Hi mate

No he didn't but thats probably because I forgot to ask! He did say that RICA said that their map had nothing to do with the problems with the AC as the two are never related. Russ seems to think, and so do I now that its much more likely to be the AC unit needs regassing or looking at. Also last night the windscreen has started misting up so it definately looks like its the AC. The cars going in for a service soon so I will get them to do it then.

I think to know properly we would have to ring RICA direct. I'll let you try that!!!!

    Cheers
