    Roof Rails?

    Hi guys,

Has anyone fitted roof rails to a P2 V70? If so, how easy or difficult was it?

I'm thinking of getting a set to fit roof bars for traveling!

Just wondered if there's any hassle involved.

    Thanks

FWIW I would fit the Thule or Volvo bars for vehicles without roof rails.

The only buggeration in fitting the rails is having to carve up the trims that run along the gutters. Lots of measuring and cutting required.

Cost is a factor 'cos rails ain't cheap.

Em, don't have any guttering fillers. Just gutters with the metal mounting points.

Think I have a good source on the rails tho.

Just wondered if the fitting is easy enough?

on the 850 there are holes for roof bars to be fitted witout roofrails open each door there is likely a hole there to locate the mount into then you dont need roof rails at all. where abouts are you? i've got a set of thule complete and they fit an 850 without roof rails if your interested you could ave em for £50 + postage or your welcome to pick em up.

oh poo i've just seen your in glasgow ;-/ but happy to post em if you want em.

Sorry dude, it's a P2, so a different barrel of eels! I have looked into that side of things, and they are different.

The "mounts" are flat metal plates positioned along the gutters, 3 each side, one at the front, rear and just at the top of the "C" pillar.

Just wondered if they were more difficult to fit.

Also I wanted the rails as I think they could support more weight than the standard 3rd party roof bars. Combo for the win!

Straightforward enough cos the holes are pre threaded.

Are you saying that there is no plastic trim on the edge of your roof?

It's bodycolour and has a black rubber edge. It runs all the way from the bottom of the windscreen up the A-pillar and along the roof to the top of the rear lamp. It covers the fixing holes when there are no rails fitted and need to be cut in three places on each side to acommodate the feet of the rails.

Lots of trim clips as I remember it. Have another look, Badge. I think you would have a very strange looking P2 without them. . .

I think a P2 looks very strange without roof rails! Something that you can't quite put your finger on at first, but when you realise, it clicks. Definately look better with roof rails on IMO.
