sounds like the elow joint under/side of inlet manifold cheap fix but a right bitch to do i did mine and got lucky i only cut my hand three times! hope this helps btw if you can find the thermostat its under there, stick your hand in there and you can feel for it and check if its perished

Breather pipe elbow is holed or leaking. Left hand end of the inlet manifold near to the thermostat housing. You will need to remove the top radiator hose to see it. Small elbow - costs about 1.80 and 2hrs of your life and a lot of swearing, unless you take off the PS pump first.

It is easier in the end to get some vac pipe and run it over behind the fuel rail. The other end connects on a similar elbow on the end of the corregated intake pipe just above the turbo compressor inlet. It is a common fault.

The elbow is down here (red arrow) and the breather runs behind the inlet manifold in a foam sheath to where the green arrow points (down the back)

Thats the core plug that came out of mine!
The only hard part i found was to get the elbow off the other pipe.
I used 2 long nose pliers,1 straight and the other with a 45' bend.
    Only cut myself once.

Use the 45' to grip the pipe and the straight one to grip the elbow, now dont try and pull it off as it wont have it,i found if you twist anti clockwise and LIGHTLY pull it'll start to shift very slowly.
