Can my bonnet be saved?

Recently bought a V70 in Cassis which generally has a good body apart from two areas. One is the bonnet, the other the roof.

Ill do another thread for the roof so ill talk about the bonnet only in this one. Basically it looks like someones tried scrubing something off the middle of the bonnet with a wire brush/wool/scouring pad (delete as appropriate) and is a bloody mess.

Ive not done anything other than to try metallic t-cut it which did nothing. You can feel all the little scratches to the touch though after polishing with Autoglym super resin all is smooth. Im unsure whether the scratching is only in the laquer or in the paint underneath so im wondering what to do?

Just been up to see Gaz and he spent an hour on the bonnet and whilst still not perfect its a 100x better than it was.

Some of the scratching is a little to deep to polish out but anyway thanks Gaz, your a star!

Oh and youve got a lovely C70 T5 there mate. Told my mrs how fast you went and she nearly had heart failure.

Personally I'd take his arm off if I was in need of a bonnet, and I was offered that lot.

But as I've got a white 850 it's not going to look to good or fit to well

Phil on Imps again. Look, PA, you could have a lovely patchwork car. In the 60s, Hillman Imps were purchased by the Police for duties around Loch Lomond. some were blue, the others white. So the doors, bonnet and bootlid were swapped on all the cars, to produce blue and white cars. Not a lot of people know that. Not a lot of people care

Still, for the money, I'd buy the doors and bonnet for that price and then look for a car that needed them!

Thanks BSR as it does look better but i think its needs respraying or replacing.

If only the guy in London lived a little closer.

"the guy" is none less than legendary T5-breaker Gary aka Siamblue... I'd ay it'd be worth the trip - a day, some fuel, £50 and ten minutes with a spanner and you're done! Scrapper's'd probably give you a tenner for the old bonnet too...

Athough if the roof also needs spraying you might be able to get both roof and bonnet sorted out for not much more than the cost of the roof alone... just a thought.
