    New vacuum hoses

Once my S70 has been and had its cam tensioner sorted, I'm intending to change the vacuum hoses as they must be getting a bit crud now (original on 173k).

What diameter hose/s do I require and what length? If someone can recommend the best quality hoses to use and preferably black in colour, that would be a grand old job.

    Fanks chaps!

the best would to go for sillicone hoses, there are companies that do complete sets.(all the diameters you'll need and plenty of it.)

    For instance www.stylinmotors.com

    Cheers Walt, nice link.

I also need to know the diameters I'll require. On my Saab 9000(s) it was the same throughout the engine.

The best thing to use for the vacuum hoses is fuel pipe. The silicone items expand under pressure, the fuel hose, being reinforced, does not and is likely to last longer and be much more resistant to splitting as it's designed to carry heated fuel under pressure, which is a very corrosive combination. It is also considerably cheaper.

A lot of the hoses are different sizes, TCV hoses are a bit bigger than the ones off the tree for instance, some of the more obscure ones vary in size, 4-5mm (but I used 6mm on the tcv)

I think I might have a measure up before I order the hoses, that way I won't get half way through the job and be left with a space where a hose should be.

On the site they say:4mm,6mm and 8mm(diam.needed)and you'll get some 10mm aswell(to do the hose to the expansion tank for example)

Just bought 3 metres of 4mm overbraided fuel hose and 3 metres of 6mm overbraided fuel hose, whole lot with delivery comes to £24 which can't be bad. Will probably have loads left but it's always handy.

Cheers mate. The 850 and early 70s are very similar so this should come in very handy.
