    obd2 diagnostics ????

    hi all
    just wandering if anyone knows weather this set up would work on my 98 v70 .

    Should do your cars OBD11 complient i bought a similar reader a while ago reads all the generic OBD11 codes

    hi there , thanks for the reply .
    i think i will give it a go they offer a7 day money back system
    i would prob end up paying a dealer more to get codes read so will pay for itself

    I'm not so sure it would, I know my 96 850 which has an OBD 2 socket isn't OBD compliant. We have several diagnostic scan tools at work and none of them will interface with my car. I have tried them before on V70 classics also with no joy

    Apparently the 850's were only part OBDII compliant from what I have read.

    I would agree with that. Also they still use a version of the flash codes from the earlier volvos, the only difference is that they need a reader (or an LED poked into certain pins on the socket) to be read. I suspect they only became fully OBD compliant when they went ME7 but I can't be sure of that.

    I think your spot on tbh, I have a ME7 C70, but havent brought i cable yet, no sure what one to get tbh.

    is there any way of telling if my car is fully obd 2 ??
    its a 98 pre me7
