    Replica 850 Touring Car

Has anyone on here, or anyone you know of, successfully created a replica touring car using a white 850 as a basis? I know the actual touring car didn't use a T5 as a starting point but that's what I'd use personally.

Mine will be a very close replica soon, but no roll cage etc

Only difference I'm doing, is where it says 'Dunlop' on the bumper, mine will say 'Autogas' and I'm having Volvo written on the rear spoiler

I'd like to see that when it's done. If mine was white I'd be very tempted (even though it's the wrong model).

I know a very good vehicle vinyl company who do our works vehicles. Superb quality but get your wallet out a bit. They can do ANY design though.

Lovely job, thanks Russ. I can only imagine how fine quality a replica would be if you built it.

I met a guy through Bebo a couple of years ago had an 854. He had actually managed to get a genuine touring front bumper. Looked the nuts and he offered to sell it to me for £1500. Was very tempted but at the time the gf wouldn't allow boooo.

Frankly I'd have a coachworks company alter a stock bumper instead, would cost a third of that!

the estate is very good, but needs the spoiler ditching & a normal front bumper to finish it off

Is it me or am I just a bit normal

I can accept the idea as a promo tool for a Volvo indie garage or something similar - but as a personal thing - isnt it a bit weird.

Why on earth would anyone want a 2 litre NASP car with decals to sit in traffic jams. Even with a T5 enigine its still a bit odd? Even if it is over 14 years old. Strike you as a bit sad?

What and polishing a car to death under halogen lights in a gazebo from B&Q getting every swirl isnt sad ?
Its peoples taste taken to the limit, if it doesnt affect you how is it sad? I think detailing a car to the last swirl is a tad extreme but i wouldnt slag it if thats what floats your boat
You have perhaps become Mr Sensible since you settled down
Heres another replica, this certainly isnt sad, just an old Escort running 300bhp with stickers on it...looks mighty fine to me

Quite the opposite I'd say. I think they look great, and if a rep is done properly it can look exceptionally good. To quantify it's no sadder than a fat bald bloke from the midlands wearing a Man United T-shirt, if he wants to replicate that feeling then he should be able to. As a project it makes a great idea, and let's face it, Volvo really polished their reputation by entering BTCC. It brought the attention of youth to a flailing brand and made it fashionable, something that Volvo had not been for years.

If someone wants to create a testament to that then all the better.
